"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. - Impress these commandments upon your children"
Our goal this year is to do this using the children of the Bible as inspiration.
We will study Miriam and her life saving love for her baby brother Moses, David and his battle with the giant, Goliath,
Dorcas and her young friend Anna and will look at Jesus' great love for all children.
Fall Camp will focus on the children of Port Nelson. Registration Sunday (September 10th) will be an opportunity to get to know a bit more about this year's program and find a place to live out the commandment
to share story and faith with our children. September 17th we will be studying Stewardship and talking about how we can be good stewards of all that we have been given. On September 24th we will have a special
morning about our pets and the animals that are important in our lives in a "Blessing of the Animals" service. On October 1st we will review what Communion means to us and then rejoin our families in worship to share the feast together.
We will be using "The Family Story Bible" written by Ralph Milton (and given as a gift to all of our babies as they are baptized) as a resource for telling and retelling the stories. Other materials will be provided for background in each unit as well as outlines and suggestions.
At the end of last year our children had a day of evaluation when they gave us feedback about what they liked and what they thought could be changed or improved upon and we have used their words and wishes in our planning for this year. To that end we will be celebrating more as families. We will start this with our Fall Fiesta at Lowville Park on September 17th from 4:00 - 7:00. There will be Ice Skating and Chili Supper in November, Swimming and Pizza at Centennial Pool in January, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 20th and a Bus Trip (in a big yellow school bus!!!!) to Wonderland in May.
Outline of Morning
Children will gather downstairs to check in and then will go with their "shepherd" to their activity centre
They will be welcomed and told a bit about the plan for the day. They then have a time to introduce themselves (through some sort of circle game) - this is an important part of the morning
The children then hear the story (read or told) and the activity begins
The morning should finish in time to close with prayer
