GROUPS - COMMUNITY

Men in Aprons

Men In Aprons
Yes, we men do cook – and in aprons, too! We cook for ourselves (and clean up after) for lunch on the 4th Thursday of most months. We arrange a Men's Breakfast on the 2nd Saturday morning of most months to eat well, to deepen relationships and to hear a guest speaker. We organize and staff the Community Dinners at Wellington Square United Church on the 3rd Friday of each month. Some of us volunteer at the Partnership West Food Bank. We make soup to be shared through the Teleministry "Helping Hands". We build a sense of community with each other and those we serve by caring and reaching out.

Friendship Bridge

Friendship Bridge
Individual couples meet in each other's homes and over light refreshments share a lot of laughs, some groans and occasionally a slam bid. All this makes for an enjoyable afternoon or evening. As well, it is a great way to get to know some of our church friends. They play once a month from October to April (no bridge in December) with a potluck supper in late April or early May. They are always interested in new members - watch for further details in the Portside or church bulletin throughout the year.

Gardening

Gardening
Do you have a green thumb? Are you passionate about gardening? Do you enjoy being out in the sunshine digging in the dirt? Well, the gardens of Port Nelson await you. We have a rock and hosta garden in the back and the beginnings of a Peace Garden in the front and all sorts of beds around the building that could use an hour or two of your time. Interested? Give the Property Management Chair a call.

Mistletow Mart

Mistletoe Mart
Busy hands and faithful hearts work away throughout the year to produce a church full of crafts, baking, knitting, sewing, collectables and more that are offered for sale on the second Saturday of November at our annual fall bazaar. An event not to be missed!!!!!!

Woman's Fellowship

Women's Fellowship
Our women meet regularly for fun, fellowship and friendship. One group meets in the morning once a month while another meets monthly for lunch and a short program following. An evening group meets as well. All these groups welcome new members and can be contacted through the church office.

Travel Crafts

Travel Crafts
Every other Monday afternoon our O'Brien Room is transformed into a workshop filled with chatty crafters gathered with Joan Milne and her elves. Nothing seems too difficult for this group to tackle with a little help from others - visit some Monday to watch them work or volunteer a helping hand.
