Saturday December 12, 2009 at 7:30 PM we celebrate the Christmas season with the reading of the age old and familiar story by Charles Dickens' - A Christmas Carol

6 Special Guest Readers will captivate us as they share this story, in their own style, woven with enchanted music of the season.

  • Don McMillan - Active member of Port Nelson, 25 years as broadcast host on TV Cogeco as play-by-play voice of the Burlington Cougars Junior "A" Hockey
  • Rev. Gord Dunbar - Associate Minister at Port Nelson
  • Ruth McQuirter - Active member of Port Nelson, Professor at Brock University and a freelance writer.

    This reading brings together the pleasure of hearing a good story, the joy of music of the season, and the inspired energy of Port Nelson to make their community a better place by helping the Wesley Urban Ministries 'No Charge Christmas Store' , and the Literacy Council of Burlington

    The Reading Tickets are $15 ea., or $38 ea. for "Christmas Dinner & Dickens", Christmas Dinner Only tickets are $23 ea. (advance tickets only for Dinner & Dickens, limited seating) - dinner is at 5:30 PM in the Lloyd Auditorium. Doors open for the reading in our Sanctuary at 7:00 PM. Tickets for the reading may be purchased at the door, or in advance from the Church office and after our church services.

    Few events sponsored by CBC Radio are as eagerly anticipated or as warmly received as the readings of A Christmas Carol. The readings bring together the pleasure of hearing a good story, the joy of music of the season, and the inspired energy of those who want to make their community a better place. We thank the CBC for their generous support of "A Christmas Carol"

    Charles Dickens has probably had more influence on the way that we celebrate Christmas today than any single individual in human history except one.
